Impossible is just a small word that is thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they’ve been given to explore the power they have, to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It is an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It is a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing! – Muhammad Ali, The Greatest
This past Wednesday officially marked the start of my favorite season, Spring. The weather gets warmer, March Madness ensues, flowers are blooming, that better half of our wardrobe sees some action, baseball begins, music festivals are everywhere, many cities start hosting “First Friday” events, and you basically just WANT to be outside doing something. So, in celebration of this delightful season, here are some of my favorite picks for Spring.
When the weather is nice out, I love opening up the windows and lighting candles. By the end of the day, the whole house smells fresh and airy. Capri Blue’s “Sheer Peony” candle is the perfect scent for Spring and has a burn time of at least 85 hours! $29.95
Between work, sporting events, outdoor activities, beach days, nights out with friends, my phone’s battery typically lasts me until at least 10:30a.m. (from the time I leave the house at 7:30a.m.). So, a portable charger is a MUST. This You’re in Charge iPhone Battery Pack in “Blossoms” by ModCloth helps your iPhone keep up with your busy lifestyle no matter where you are. $34.99
The mild temperatures of Spring have many of us pounding the pavement or hitting the trails for our fitness fix. Whether you’re preparing for a marathon event, walking the dog, or simply getting in a good run, these Nike Free 5.0+ iD running shoes will having you doing so in style. Even better, they’re super light-weight! I customized mine in the colors of my favorite NBA Basketball team, the Oklahoma City Thunder (my #1 team no matter the distance), and my workout motivation tag, “Go Harder.” $135
The timeless Saint-Louis Goyard tote is a classic fashion staple. Not only is this coveted bag customizable, but its versatile shape makes it a great carry-all for all of your Spring essentials. These exclusive bags can ONLY be purchased in person at a Maison Goyard store (of which there are only 5 in the U.S.) or at certain Barney’s locations. $1,615
The simplicity of the Spring season calls for no-fuss, long-lasting makeup. The Satin Lip Pencil by NARS ensures a flawless application to swipe on for an all-over color while you’re on the go. They also come in an array of resplendent colors to perk up your pucker. I’m loving “Jardin de Plantes.” $25
One of the many perks of living in California has to be the short (or in some areas, nonexistent) winter. Here in the Bay Area, we’ve been anxiously awaiting the start of Spring when many residents flock to the nearby beaches for the weekend. Yesterday, a few friends and I made the short trek to the Opal Cliffs area of Santa Cruz and had a great time getting some sun (after the burn-off) and watching the surfers, skimmers, and sail boats hit the Pacific.
“Taking initiative pays off. It is hard to visualize someone as a leader if she is always waiting to be told what to do.”
Facebook COO, Sheryl Sandberg, has recently made major waves with her new book, Lean In. After just a few pages (review to come), I was already hooked. Her savvy advice for women encourages an indomitable will to succeed against all odds. There is only one catch, as women, we must step up to the plate and… “lean in.” This quote from her chapter titled, “Sit at the Table,” reminds us that we must not expect to be handed opportunities, we must seek them out and take them. Happy Monday!
