This past week I visited New York City for the very 1st time. While I may have been the last person on Earth left to explore the Big Apple, it was definitely worth the wait. From The Met to Central Park, 5th Avenue, and the Brooklyn street fairs, I was completely captivated by this beautiful city that somehow managed to operate on my speed. My mom and I even joked that a New York minute is twice as long as an “Alex-minute”, nevertheless, I felt right at home.
Most of the trip was spent in Brooklyn and SoHo, but we managed to squeeze in as much sight-seeing all around the city as possible. In my ADHD brain, more sight-seeing translates to more outfit changes. Being in the fashion capitol of the U.S., it was not hard to find inspiration for my constantly fluctuating style. Here are some of my favorite moments (both fashion and fun) from the trip!
We were welcomed to NYC with pouring rain, but that didn’t stop us from venturing out to Times Square at midnight for some late-night shopping!
The first full day in Manhattan was spent doing what else…shopping! My mom and I hit up SoHo, 5th Avenue, and everywhere in between. This monochrome look was perfect for trekking around NYC, especially when the rain came back to greet us later that afternoon.

Later that evening, we checked out The Jimmy atop The James Hotel to watch the sunset. Then, we made our way over to Koi SoHo for dinner.

One of my favorite things was visiting The Met and Central Park. It was the first sunny summer day in the city and a perfect opportunity to do all of the touristy stuff. The Met was also an early birthday present for my mom, an avid artist.

To cap things off, we celebrated my mom’s birthday with dinner at the famed Lower East Side restaurant, Beauty & Essex. Later we went to ultra-chic Pera SoHo for drinks and more appetizers.

We wrapped up the trip by spending our last day in Brooklyn at a 7 MILE LONG street fair and had an authentic Italian dinner at La Villa! A perfect end to an amazing vacation.
