Not until just recently did I understand the reasoning behind owning a real actual camera that does not also tweet, take conference calls, text, and play Candy Crush. When I got into blogging I figured my iPhone would suffice for any pictures I need. If a phone is going to cost $599, hell yeah it better take good pictures too. Being more of an analytical mind, blogging was more about writing and structure for me than the visuals. However, the more I get into it, the more my creative, visual side starts to develop.
So, this week I decided to expand my horizons beyond the iPhone and purchase a camera. Not ready for a DSLR yet (I mean I’m still trying to figure out flash on my phone), I purchased a Nikon Coolpix L820. For those photography beginners like myself, this is categorized as a “compact system camera” or the step between a “point-and-shoot” digital camera and a DSLR. I chose this one because of the megapixels, zoom, shooting modes, PRICE, and because my expert photographer brother-in-law said so.
