Being petite has its advantages and disadvantages. On the positive side, you can fit in small spaces, you’re rarely taller than any guy you date, and… yeah, that about covers it. On the down side, you regularly get asked when you’re going to graduate high school, you must lie to ride the rides at the amusement park, you get lost in crowds, and you get lost in clothes.
Interestingly enough, most people are always surprised to learn that I’m only 5’5 (okay, maybe 5’4). This can be attributed to learning how to dress for my body type, and really, really tall heels. A common style conundrum among shorter ladies, like myself, is how to wear the billowy top. If worn the wrong way, i.e. with a loose-fitting skirt or pants, your shape gets lost in the top or it can look like maternity-wear. However, if you pair it with high-waist shorts, slim-cut pants, or maybe even leggings, it can complement your shape.
