After what felt like a long hiatus from the blog to get settled into my new place, I’m excited to be back with a classic Fall look that I just can’t seem to get enough of. An easy way to gain longevity out of your favorite, classic pieces of clothing is mixing them up with other pieces that you would typically never pair them with. This is exactly the case with these Zara faux leather leggings that have been omnipresent in my wardrobe since we met. Worn with a rich denim shirt, plush vest, and floppy hat, the juxtaposition of textures inspires a boho chic feel channeling a “Maj” Rachel Zoe moment!

As some of you may recall, earlier this Summer my hometown of Oklahoma City, specifically Moore, was devastated by one of the worst tornados in history. I watched from over 1,500 miles away as the grief-stricken residents mourned their lost loved ones and tried to pick up the pieces. Witnessing a tragedy like this, especially one that hits so close to home, opens up your eyes to the immense needs of those affected by natural disaster. Further, it inspires you to want to do something about it.

When I recently had the opportunity to try out Boutiika and shop some of my favorite San Francisco boutiques, I was impressed by their focus on community and immediately drawn to philanthropic retailer, Be Good Clothing, and their Threads for Thought line. Boutiika works to highlight and support local brick and mortar boutiques (right now in San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, and Austin) by offering their latest stock on their website. Shoppers can go on the Boutiika site to see what’s in at each boutique. Then, they can either:
1.) Have an item held in store for them to later go in and try on

-or-

2.) Purchase on the spot and have it delivered to them with same day DASH delivery

So, after perusing all of Be Good’s amazing pieces, I settled on this Threads for Thought dress. While I couldn’t pass up the season-less maxi dress, what was most important to me was Thread for Thought’s support of the International Rescue Committee. The IRC’s mission is to rebuild the lives of the many people affected by the world’s worst humanitarian crises, including natural disasters. Thanks to Boutiika, Be Good, and Threads for Thought, I feel like I am able to support my hometown from afar while also supporting my new local community. Now, THIS is fashion you can feel good about.

Budget-Friendly Dresses for a Summer Wedding

With wedding season in full-force right now, trying to find a new dress for each invite can get pretty expensive. Here are five stylish looks for less than $100 that can be easily recycled for future fêtes. All of these dresses incorporate the season’s hottest styles from floral prints to bold stripes and won’t break the bank.

Nine West – With an A-line cut, this bold-striped dress is ideal for Summer weddings allowing it to translate nicely from day to evening. We also love A-line fits because it is the one style complimentary to nearly every body-type. $99
Sabine – This maxi dress mixes season favorites – floral and neon – to create a perfect look for an outdoor Summer wedding. $59.99
BB Dakota – Lightweight and billowy, this polka dot dress can be dressed down with a belt and sandals for a garden-style wedding or paired with a statement necklace and stilettos for an evening event. $78
Taylor – This pleated dress incorporates class and elegance with the A-line fit. The unexpected cutouts in the back make it not your ordinary LBD. $98

Bar III – With beautiful detail from the navy stripes to the sheer back, this dress stands out from the crowd. The short sleeves are great for hiding any trouble spots or covering up your shoulders when the temperatures drop. $69
