While it doesn’t quite feel like a true October yet here (hello 7 straight 90 degree days), my brain has already made the mental shift towards Fall. Call me basic, but I truly believe October is one of the most cherished months of the year. We trade in our swim suits, and subsequent Summer diets, for cozy, enveloping layers, flopping fedoras, and tall boots meant for traipsing through pumpkin patches with pumpkin spiced lattes firmly fixated to hands. It’s a time for wrapping up in one of Fall’s chicly fringed coats to tailgate and cheer on your favorite football team to victory. And for those with an aversion to color, it’s one of the only times of the year you can get away with wearing head-to-toe black in favor of the Halloween month, or just to match a Monday mood.

So in honor of this serendipitous month, here are my top picks for an expertly-styled October. Please enjoy the crisp Fall air and cozying up in these beautiful pieces. Here in California, we will be shielding ourselves from the heat wave indoors with apple pie-scented candles, air conditioner blasting, and that DirecTV fake fireplace scene “crackling” in the background.

Handbag Organization

1 J. Crew// 2 Clare Vivier// 3 Smythson// 4 Alexander McQueen// 5 Clare Vivier
Though I usually carry the same purse and workbag for a good 4 month stretch, I often like to trade out different styles of carryall clutches. Between work, travel, and splitting time amongst 2 different cities, it’s easy for my favorite YSL highlighter, coveted eos balm, or one and only Sharpie pen to get lost in the deep abyss that is my handbag. So, to quickly and easily shift between bags and keep my favorite items organized within one convenient spot, I’ve been collecting my fair share of clutches. Here are fun 5 clutches to help you stay organized and add some variety to the everyday bag.

Fall Whites

BCBG Dress (similar here and here)// Chanel Scarf// Guess Heels// Watch old
Fall in the Bay Area rolls in with the same subtly as our morning fog and leaves us with a near effervescent awakening as temps reach the peak of our very own Indian summer. It’s an anomaly that’s called for an entirely new category of situational ensembles in my closet. An all-time favorite is the classic, ribbed knit long-sleeved dress. With knuckle-length long sleeves and lightweight ribbing, this BCBG dress offers a cool comfort for the Bay Area’s bipolar Fall days. Completed with a silk scarf and a pair of contrasting pumps it makes for an ideal day to night transitional look.

Labor Day in Tahoe

This past Saturday we made the trek up to Tahoe to enjoy the long Labor Day weekend. One of the things I love most about living in the Bay Area is having so many options for a reprieve from the hustle of the city all just a short road trip away. Visiting Lake Tahoe is like hitting the refresh button. Every time, I marvel at its beauty from the crystal blue lake to the towering pine trees lining the sinuous trails. Reflecting in this beautiful backdrop, my new Zara pants and Chambray top were the perfect complement to Tahoe’s sublime ambiance.
